Oleksii Hulyanytskyi (2 March 1933, Mineralni Vody, Stavropol Territory - 10 October 2021)[1] was a Ukrainian conductor, Honoured Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1974), People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1983), awarded the Order of the Badge of Honour (1981), a Certificate of Honour from the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR, Chevalier of the Order of Merit, 3rd Class (1999), and a Laureate of the State Prizes of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (1993 and 1998).
Oleksiy Gulyanytsky was born on 2 March 1933 in Mineralnye Vody, Stavropol Territory. He was brought up in the family of People's Artist of Ukraine Hryhorii Svitlytskyi.
In 1957, he graduated from the Kyiv Conservatory. In 1963, he trained in Moscow with conductor Igor Markevich, and in 1965 he completed his postgraduate studies.
Artistic director and chief conductor of the Crimean Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra in 1965-2005. He was the first performer of works by Ukrainian composers V. Homolyaka, A. Shtogarenko, I. Koval, and Alemdar Karamanov.
During his creative life, he gave more than 2000 concerts, 40 years at the conductor's console. He managed to transform the Crimean Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra from a provincial orchestra founded in 1937 into a highly professional musical group.
In 1975-1990, he was a member of the jury of republican instrumentalist competitions held in Kyiv, Kharkiv and Lviv.
In 1977, on his initiative, the Yalta Chamber Orchestra was founded.
Since 1980, he has been the head of the Crimean branch of the All-Ukrainian Music Society.
In 1992, he conducted at the Chopin International Piano Competition in Moscow.
He is an honorary citizen of Yalta and is engaged in teaching activities - he is the head of the Department of Conducting, Vocal and Choral Art of the Crimean Humanitarian University.
In 1996-2000, he conducted the New Names of Young Stars of Ukraine competition in Kyiv and Donetsk.
In 1998, he became a member of the Board of the Ministry of Culture of Crimea, the Awards Committee of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, and a cultural adviser to the Mayor of Yalta.
In the same year, he was a member of the jury of the S. Turchak International Conducting Competition in Kyiv and the Karamanov International Conducting Competition in Simferopol.
At one time, he was offered to head the Odesa Philharmonic Orchestra on the condition of a decisive renewal of its staff, which contradicted the principles of the conductor.
He has performed with 53 orchestras of the former Soviet Union and 14 foreign orchestras.

His grandfather, Hryhorii Petrovych Svitlytskyi, was the first People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR.
His son, Oleksii Hulyanytskyi, is an Honoured Artist of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
