Grushin Egor Valerievich

1993

Ukrainian neoclassical composer and pianist. One of the few representatives of the neoclassical style in Ukraine.

Biography

Ukrainian composer and pianist Yehor Hrushyn was born on April 2, 1993 in Odesa. In 2001, Yehor's family moved to Novaya Kakhovka, where the boy graduated from the music school with honors in 2008.

In the period from 2009 to 2010, the musician created many cover tracks on the songs of his favorite musicians, including: "Ocean Elsa", "Bon Jovi", "Queen", "Muse". The author distributed his compositions through the Internet, where he quickly gained popularity. For example, the song "Christmas Story" was listened to by more than 50 thousand users in two days.

In 2011, at the invitation of Andrii Bochka, the musician moved to Lviv. Here he meets Yakov Matviychuk, the producer of the famous Zahid festival, who helps the composer organize his first solo concert. Soon, together with Andriy Bochka and Roksolana Pakholkiv, the musician creates his own musical group, which was named "Illusions".

In the period from January to July 2011, Yehor organizes an all-Ukrainian tour called "Emotions". And it was then that the musician had the idea of creating the first album.
Album "Inside" (2012)

In April 2012, Yehor Grushin released his debut album "Inside". The album included 12 compositions that the musician wrote throughout 2011. Recording and mixing took place at home using non-professional equipment, so this work was distributed for free over the Internet.

Also, in the autumn of the same year, the music of Yehor Hrushin was played at the "Youth" festival, in the short film "Choice Boy", created by the "KiyNet" community led by Andrii Balan. The film was presented as part of the IFF "Molodist'42" Shoot'n'PLAY-2012 Competition. The peculiarity of this work was that the music was written "blindly" - Yegor had only the script to familiarize himself with. Then, this composition was included in Yehor Hrushin's next album.

The main composition of the album, with the same name "Inside", was also used in the short film "Finita la tragedia" (2013). Yehor appears in a cameo role in this picture: he plays his own composition on the piano together with Roksolana Pakholkiv (cello).
Album "Absolution" (2013)

On February 1, 2013, Yehor Hrushin's second solo album "Absolution" was released. Of the approximately 20 compositions written in 2012, the album included 12. The special feature of this disc is that it was Yegor's first album, which was completely recorded on professional studio equipment.
""In "Absolution" I revealed myself, my soul, asked for forgiveness for something in this way, or made a promise. After finishing the work, I felt that I got the peace of mind I was looking for" - comments the composer on his own work on his website.«
" The main "hero" of the album is the piano, the function of which is mostly a prelude, that is, going through arpeggios, which, when you look at them, have a fairly traditional sequence, which is occasionally broken by a new, fresh chord. Neat experiments with electronics, interspersed with the sound of a chamber orchestra in addition to a sprawling piano part - this is the instrumental palette of "Absolution", - writes art critic Olena Chekan in her review "

.

Immediately after the release of the studio work, Yehor Hrushyn gives a tour of Ukraine in support of the album "Absolution". During the tour, the composer recorded the soundtrack for the short film "Angels die at dawn" directed by Yaroslav Turkivskyi.

In December 2013, Yehor Grushin gave a large spherical concert in Kyiv: with the help of projectors on the ceiling of the building, cosmic visualization of the pianist's compositions took place. The concert took place in the "Atmasfera 360" hall.

At the same time, the musician begins cooperation with the group "Violet". On March 4, 2014, a new CD "Wigvam" was released with Yehor Hrushyn as keyboardist. At the same time, the band's tour to support their latest album begins.

In October 2013, Yehor Grushin started the first Lviv acoustic music festival Lviv Acoustic Fest. About 20 bands took part in the festival. A feature of Lviv Acoustic Fest was the opportunity for young performers to perform on the same stage as their idols.
" "The idea of creating a festival arose in March last year. Friends, acquaintances and colleagues supported me, and we started training in June. We managed absolutely everything that we planned at the first festival. But we know we can do even better! The project gave us all a unique organizational experience," comments the musician himself. "
Album "Dominicano" (2014)

Throughout the winter of 2014, the writing and recording of music for his new album continued. And already in April 2014, a new studio work called "Dominicano" was released. The record consists of two parts: the first part is a peculiar story of five compositions. And the second is individual tracks written in different periods of the musician's life. Immediately after the release of "Dominicano", Yehor Grushin goes on the first part of the Ukrainian tour to support this album.

At the beginning of September 2014, Yehor Grushin stopped working with the band"Violet", deciding to focus only on a solo career.

In October 2014, the second Lviv Acoustic Fest took place. Officially, 21 teams took part in the festival, including: Pianoboy, Vivienne Mort, Kolos (Violet), Republic of Palina, Epolets, P&D, BAHROMA, Pleso.

At the end of October 2014, the musician continued his tour of Ukraine, conditionally starting its second part. As part of the second part of the tour, Yehor held six concerts in six cities in a row. Also, during this part of the tour, the documentary film "Dominicano Backstage" was shot, which told about the behind-the-scenes of the last tour of Yehor Hrushin.
Album "Once" (2016)

On May 19, 2016, Yehor Grushin released the track list of the new album, and the release of the album "Once" itself took place on June 1, 2016. It was appreciated both in Ukraine and abroad, in particular, reviews appeared on such foreign language resources as: A Closer Listen: a home for instrumental and experimental music (English), Music Won't Save You (Italian), Echoes And Dust ( English), Merchants of Air (English), etc. The first single was the piano track "Ocean", which became part of the official selection for Piano Day (English), which was founded by German pianist Niels Frahm. In support of the album, an all-Ukrainian tour called "#oncetour" was organized in autumn. Yehor Hrushyn and the string duo (Roksolana Pakholkiv and Anna Bura) visited 18 Ukrainian cities in a row with concerts.
During his stay on the tour, Yehor Hrushyn received an award for the development of culture and was included in the TOP-100 most influential people of Lviv Oblast according to the Mediastar news agency.
Collections of piano works

A month after the release of "Once", namely on July 8, 2016, the famous Swedish label "1631 Recordings" released a collection of purely piano works of the composer called "Solo Piano Works - Volume One".
Music for movies

In the fall of the same year, 2016, Yehor wrote music for a feature film for the first time. These are the tracks "Anne's Life" and "Alive" for the Ukrainian film "Zhiva".
