Oleksandr Hrodzynskyi (10 (22) June 1891, Skotareve village, Cherkasy region - 26 February 1973) was a Ukrainian singer (bass), Honoured Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1969).
He studied at the Kyiv University (1913) and at the Kyiv Conservatory in the class of V. Tsvetkov. During the First World War, he was evacuated to Saratov, where he studied with the teacher M. Medvedev. In 1922-25, he studied at the Kyiv Conservatory in the class of professors E. Gandolfi and M. Chistiakov.
In 1925-1954, he was a soloist (bass) at the Kyiv Opera and Ballet Theatre.
From 1949 to 1973 he was a lecturer at the Kyiv Conservatoire (from 1952 - associate professor).
Best opera roles: Patsyuk, Konchak, Hremin ("The Christmas Night" by Mykola Lysenko, "Prince Igor" by A. Borodin, "Eugene Onegin" by P. Tchaikovsky).
Among his students were M. Kondratiuk, H. Dranov, A. Mokrenko, M. Poludennyi, M. Slipchenko, L. Silvestrov, and Y. Zhezherun.
