People's Artist of Ukraine (1996), laureate of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine, awarded the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, 5th class (October 2005), full Cavalier of the Order of Merit, soloist of the Metropolitan Opera (New York), soloist of the Mariinsky Theater from 1996 to 2006 (St. Petersburg).
Musical career
From the age of seven he sang in the Shchedryk Choir. He graduated from the R. M. Glier Kyiv Music College in 1982 with a degree in classical guitar, and in the same year entered the Kyiv Conservatory. In 1988, as a student of the Conservatory, he began working at the National Opera and Ballet Theater as a trainee soloist. In 1989, he graduated from the Kyiv Conservatory as a vocalist (class of V. Tymokhin) and entered the postgraduate program at the Conservatory. In 1990, while a graduate student at the NMAU, he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Ukraine.
During these years, he actively performed at international competitions and won awards:
1988 - Mykola Lysenko Republican Vocal Competition (Kyiv, first prize);
1989 - International Competition of Opera Singers (Marseille, III prize),
All-Union M. Glinka Vocal Competition (Riga, II prize),
F. Viñas International Vocal Competition (Barcelona, special Placido Domingo prize and the title of "Best Tenor", Grand Prix);
1990 - International Vocal Competition (Toulouse, Grand Prix).
Since 1990 V. Hryshko has been a soloist at the National Opera. In 1991, he graduated from the postgraduate program (class of Professor Z. Khrystych).
Since 1996 he has been a soloist at the Metropolitan Opera (New York) and the Mariinsky Theater (1999-2008, St. Petersburg).
In 1996 he was awarded the honorary title of People's Artist of Ukraine.
In 2001 he was awarded the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine.

Teaching activity
Since 2006 he has been teaching at the NMAU (in 2019 he was awarded the academic title of professor). Among his graduates is Andriy Kymach. In 2018, he founded the private educational institution "Volodymyr Hryshko Academy of Arts".
