Gorovyts Regina Samailovna

1899-1984

Regina Samiylivna Horowitz (28 December 1899 / 10 January 1900, Kyiv - 9 September 1984, Kharkiv) was a pianist and teacher.

Biographical information
1916 - graduated from the Kyiv Private Women's Gymnasium.

1919 - graduated from the Kyiv Conservatory, class of S. Tarnovsky.

1920-1925 - soloist and concertmaster of the Kyiv Philharmonic.

1926-1927 - concertmaster of the Moscow Touring Bureau.

1927-1936 - concertmaster of the Kharkiv Philharmonic.

From 1937 - soloist of the Kharkiv Radio Committee, teacher at the Kharkiv Music School.

Since 1939 - a lecturer at the Kharkiv Conservatory.

1944-1945 - lecturer at the Moscow Music and Theatre School named after A. Glazunov.

1945-1947 - concertmaster of the Moscow Philharmonic.

Since 1947 he has been a teacher at the Kharkiv Secondary Music School at the Conservatory.

In 1947-1954 and in 1962-1984 she was a lecturer at the Kharkiv Conservatory - I. P. Kotliarevsky Institute of Arts.

She performed mostly as an ensemble player (among her partners were D. Oistrakh, M. Polyakin, N. Milstein, S. Fuhrer, N. Blinder, E. Hillels, A. Leshchynskyi, E. Feyerman, A. Dolivo, D. Smirnov, and others).

She was subjected to many years of harassment because of her connections with Volodymyr Horowitz, who emigrated to the West.

Family.
Her grandfather was a merchant of the 1st Guild and philanthropist Joachim Samailovych Horowitz.

Father - Kyiv engineer Samuel Horowitz.
Uncle - Kharkiv pianist and teacher Oleksandr Horowitz.
Brother - American pianist Volodymyr Horowitz.
Husband - Kharkiv scientist and economist Ovsiy Liberman.
