Gornostay Vasyl Prokopovych

1938-2005

Vasyl Prokopovych Hornostai (March 22, 1938, Velyki Moshkivtsi - October 6, 2005) was a Ukrainian composer, Honored Artist of Ukraine since 1993.
Vasyl Hornostai was born on March 22, 1938, in the village of Velyki Moshkivtsi, Andrushivka district, Zhytomyr region.

The composer's career began at the Zhytomyr Music College named after V. Kosenko, where he graduated in 1961. Later he studied at the Donetsk Music Pedagogical Institute, graduating in 1969. In 1965-1970, he worked as a teacher and director of the Cherniakhiv Children's Music School.

Vasyl Hornostai died on October 6, 2005. He was buried in Kyiv at the Berkivtsi Cemetery.

Creative work
He had a collection of his songs, including songs based on Bohachuk's poems:

"Father's Well";
"The winds were joking..."
"When over the distant horizon";
"I give wings to songs".
