Gornostay Oleksandr Vasyliovych

1960

Ukrainian musician, pianist, producer, general director of the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, honored artist of Ukraine.

Biography

Born in 1960 in Zhytomyr in a musical family. At the age of five, he has an absolute musical ear and begins learning to play the piano and violin. In 1978, Oleksandr Gornostay graduated from the piano department of the Zhytomyr School of Music named after V. S. Kosenko, and in 1983 - from the piano department of the Kyiv State Conservatory named after P. I. Tchaikovsky.

Oleksandr Gornostay began his creative and organizational activities in 1980 as the music director of the People's Student Ensemble "Eko" of the Kyiv Institute of National Economy. With the team, he took part in many concerts in Kyiv, toured in Finland. During 1984-1988, Oleksandr Gornostay worked in the Rivne Regional Philharmonic as a soloist-instrumentalist and concertmaster (piano), where he performed in more than 500 concerts in Ukraine and other republics of the USSR. In 1986, he was a participant in the liquidation of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant - 25 performances as part of the philharmonic group in Poliske and Ivankivske districts of the Kyiv region.

Since 1988, Oleksandr Gornostay began his activities as an organizer of concerts, touring tours, music festivals, as well as a producer of sound recordings of classical music. During 1989, he was the director of the first All-Ukrainian festival "Red Route", the final events of which were held with great success in September in Chernivtsi. Since October 1989, Oleksandr Gornostay has been the head of the tour-concert department of the first Ukrainian-Canadian JV "Kobza". During November 1989 - March 1990, despite the difficult political conditions, Oleksandr Gornostay organized about 100 concerts of the winners of the "Chervon Ruta" festival in all regional centers of Ukraine and in Kyiv, and later - more than 200 concerts of Ukrainian artists in Ukraine, Australia, Belgium, Great Britain, Ireland, Canada, Germany, Poland, USA and France.

During 2000-2006, Oleksandr Gornostay worked on a number of artistic projects, including the well-known television documentary series "Roads of Ukraine" (25 films) and "Roads of Ukrainians" (20 films) for the First National Channel, became the producer of more than 50 CDs of contemporary works American composers. Oleksandr Gornostay is the founder of the Ukrainian-American Music Festival in Kyiv, which took place in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
Cooperation with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine

Oleksandr Gornostay's collaboration with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine began in 1993, and continues to this day. Initially, as a producer of sound recordings of classical music, he organized about 60 recordings of the Ukrainian and world repertoire, which at that time was the largest number of sound recordings among all symphony orchestras of the former USSR. At the same time, as an assistant to the artistic director-chief conductor of the NSOU, he took the most active part in the organization of major tours of the NSOU to Hong Kong, Australia and England. In 1998-2000, Oleksandr Gornostay worked as the deputy general director-artistic director of the National Academy of Music, organizing more than 100 concerts in Kyiv with leading domestic soloists and conductors, as well as with recognized world stars — Montserrat Caballé, Jose Carreras, Michel Legrand, "Electric Light Orchestra" . At the same time, he made about 40 orchestral recordings for the "American Classics" series.

In June 2006, Oleksandr Gornostay became the general director of the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, and his fruitful collaboration with artistic director and chief conductor Volodymyr Sirenko began. In the following years, Oleksandr Gornostay organized tours of the orchestra in more than twenty countries of the world, held a series of successful jubilee concerts for the 90th anniversary and 100th anniversary of the NSOU in Kyiv and Ukraine, ensured the performances of the team as part of official delegations in Astana, London, Amsterdam, Prague , Bratislava and Strasbourg., organized concerts with recognized world stars — Plácido Domingo, Andrea Bocelli, Sting, Scorpions. In 2012-2020, Oleksandr Gornostay is the producer of the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine's recordings of Yevgeny Stankovych's folk opera "The Fern Flower", the oratorio "The Passion for Taras", 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th violin concertos and other works of the composer, all violin concertos of Myroslav Skoryk , all the symphonies of Boris Lyatoshinsky, as well as the symphonies of Ludwig van Beethoven and Dmitri Shostakovich.
