Ukrainian choral conductor, teacher, amateur composer, vocalist, and public figure.
Biography
Petro Holinaty was born on March 25, 1939, in the village of Stara Yahilnytsia, Chortkiv district, Ternopil region, Ukraine.
There were six children in the Golinaty family. His father was the head of the local Prosvita society, an elder church brother, the head of the village reading room, participated in the village drama group, sang well, and his mother also had a wonderful voice. When Petro was seven years old in 1946, his father died, and when he was nineteen, his mother passed away. From an early age, he worked as a loader and bookkeeper at a local collective farm.
He graduated from Staroyagilnytsia seven-year school (eighth grade in Bilobozhnytsia village), Ternopil Music College (1966), Kyiv State Institute of Culture (1975), Ivano-Frankivsk Pedagogical Institute (1979, now the Precarpathian National University).
Since 1960 - director of the choir of the Chortkiv Meat Processing Plant; 1961-1962 - music teacher at the secondary school; later - director of the choir in the village of Bila, Chortkiv district; 1969-1972 - choirmaster of the bandura band of the Chortkiv District House of Culture, director of the choir of the Chortkiv Children's Music School; since 1977 - director of the folk choir in the village of Bazar. Bazar; 1989 - director of the choir in the village of Stara Yahilnytsia; 1991 - director of the women's vocal ensemble of the Chortkiv Music School, director of the choir in the village of Mali Chornokintsi; 1990-1999 - director of the choir in the village of Kolindiany (all in the Chortkiv district); 1966-2002 - teacher, head teacher of the Chortkiv Music School.
He died on November 10, 2020.
