Godzyatsky Oleksiy Konstantinovich

1904-1979

Oleksii Konstantynovych Hodziatskyi (24.03.1904, Velyka Zhmerynka - 9.04.1979, Kyiv) - composer, regent. Father of V. Godziatsky.
He came from a priestly family. He graduated from Zhmerynka Gymnasium (1921).
For two years he worked in the choir of the Vinnytsia Music and Drama Theater.
He studied at the Kyiv Conservatory at the vocal faculty (class of Mykhailo Engel-Kron). He also completed a conducting course as an external student (1939). He conducted amateur choirs and taught music at schools.

1941 - second conductor of the Dumka Chapel;
1942 - regent of the choir chapel in Kremenchuk;
1944-1952 - regent of Kyiv churches. His spiritual works were performed in Western Ukraine, Canada, and the United States.
