Godo Yuriy

1974

Ukrainian crossover and opera singer, tenor.

The best tenor in Spain in the 2004/2005 season according to Opera Actual magazine. He has performed as a soloist at the Royal Theater. His songs have twice won the prestigious Billboard Music Award, and he was nominated for a Grammy Award.

From his biography

Since childhood, he had a passion for music and singing, graduated from music school, and played in local rock bands in Zelenodolsk. He entered the Kryvyi Rih State Pedagogical Institute, where, in 1995-97, he played in the KVN team "Kryvyi Rih Spana". He was also a boxer and became a junior champion of Ukraine. He did his military service in Sevastopol on the Hetman Sahaidachny, returned to the ship for two more years, and then returned to the Faculty of Music and Pedagogy of the Kryvyi Rih State Pedagogical Institute. After one of his performances, Oleksandr Masliakov's wife Svitlana encouraged Yurii to enter the conservatory, which he did.

He was a vocalist of the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a soloist of the National Honored Academic Chapel of Ukraine "Dumka", and a soloist of the Kyiv State Operetta Theater. He is a graduate of the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy. From 2000 to 2005, he studied at the Bel canto Higher School of Vocal Performance at the Francis Vignas Music Academy in Barcelona and the Higher School of Pop and Jazz Vocal Performance in Santander. In 2007, he participated in the Eurovision Song Contest.

His wife is Tatiana Lukyanenko, a TV journalist. She graduated from the Institute of Cinema and Television at the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts. Children - Alexey and Daria.
Music career

Godo's creative pseudonym was given by priests from Ukraine and Italy; Godo means "the one who gives love and prosperity".

He began his career as a classical singer, but also sang rock and pop, which led to the Crossover style. He studied with Vladimir Timokhin, Yevgenia Miroshnichenko, Placido Domingo, Monserrate Caballé, Jose Sempera, Eduardo Jimenez, and Giacomo Arragal. He has performed at the Real Opera House (Madrid), Carnegie Hall (New York), and in theaters in Paris, Naples, Venice, and Munich.

Yuriy participates in international opera festivals, where he has performed the main characters in operas such as La Traviata, Rigoletto, Requiem, Lucia di Lammermoor, Madam Butterfly, La Boheme, Tosca, Cavalleria Rusticana, and the musical West Side Story.

In 2004 and 2006, he was recognized as the best voice of classical music in Spain, which is why the Queen granted him the right to Spanish citizenship. He presented a new musical project - "Bel Canto in Ukrainian", in which world-famous Ukrainian songs were performed in a new arrangement, at the Arsenal Opera.
