Andriy Hnatyshyn (December 26, 1906, Chyzhykiv village, now Lviv region - September 3, 1995, Vienna) was a Ukrainian composer (author and arranger of more than 200 musical works), conductor, musician and public figure, director of the choir of the Ukrainian Catholic Church of St. Barbara in Vienna, and teacher. Professor (since 1963).
In the history of the musical culture of Ukrainian immigrants in Western Europe, the figure of Andriy Hnatyshyn, one of the most prominent representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora in Vienna, occupies a prominent place.
He studied at the Mykola Lysenko Higher Music Institute in Lviv (classes of Stanislav Liudkevych, Halyna Levytska, and Borys Kudryk). In 1934 he graduated from the New Vienna Conservatory.
In Vienna, together with the composer Bohdan Veselovskyi, he worked on the notes of Ukrainian folk songs in the publishing house of Borys Tyshchenko.
From 1931 to 1995 (with interruptions) he was the director of the choir of the Ukrainian Church of St. Barbara in Vienna.
