Olena Hnatovska (Russian: Гнатовская Елена Борисовна; March 10, 1949, Orel, Russia - 2007, Kharkiv, Ukraine) was a Ukrainian composer, pianist, and teacher.
She graduated from the I. P. Kotliarevsky Kharkiv Institute of Arts, piano class of H. L. Helfgat in 1974 and composition class of D. L. Klebanov in 1979. In 1986, she completed an assistantship at the Tchaikovsky Kyiv State Conservatory, composition class of Professor Yurii Ishchenko.
Professional activity
Since 1984 Olena Hnatovska has been a member of the Union of Composers of Ukraine. Hnatovska worked at the I. P. Kotliarevsky Kharkiv Institute of Arts at the Department of General and Specialized Piano. Hnatovska's works include chamber instrumental, vocal and symphonic genres. A special place in her work is occupied by piano music for children (about 50 pieces). Hnatovska's works are performed both in Ukraine and abroad: Russia, Israel, and the USA.
Olena Hnatovska was also active in public life. For many years, she was a permanent member of the jury at international children's festivals of Russian and Polish music organized by the directorate of the Children's Music School No. 13 together with the Department of Culture of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration and the Russian and Polish societies.
