Glushkov Pyotr Tarasovich

1889-1966

Petro Tarasovych Hlushov (23 July 1889, Odesa - 16 May 1966, Kyiv) was a composer and teacher. He studied at the St. Petersburg Conservatory, piano, composition class of M. Sokolov (1908-1914).

Graduated from the Kyiv Conservatory, composition class of B. Lyatoshynskyi (1924).

He taught theoretical subjects at the Dnipropetrovs'k Music College (1924-33, 1936-41), from 1944 - at the Kyiv Music School, from 1952 - at the Kyiv Conservatory. Author of the textbook Elementary Music Theory, K., 1951 (co-author with B. Krasovska).
