Gazinsky Vitaly Ivanovich

1945-2019

Vitalii Ivanovych Gazinskyi (born 3 April 1945, Serbynivka, Starokostiantynivskyi district, Khmelnytskyi region - 20 March 2019, Vinnytsia) was a conductor, composer, professor, head of the Department of Methods of Music Education, Singing and Choral Conducting at the Vinnytsia State Pedagogical University named after M. Kotsiubynskyi, Honoured Artist of the Kabardino-Balkar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, Honoured Worker of Culture of Ukraine, People's Artist of Ukraine, Honorary Citizen of Vinnytsia.
Vitalii Gazinskyi was born into a large family, with seven brothers and a sister. His father played many stringed instruments, and his mother could sing.

After graduating from school, he studied at the Khmelnytsky Music School and then at the Odesa Conservatory. After graduating from the conservatory, Gazinsky was drafted into the army and served in the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Odesa Military District, where he was a soloist and conductor. After that, he worked for some time as a choirmaster at the Odesa Opera House.

In 1971, he moved to Vinnytsia, where he began working as a teacher and choir director at the M. Leontovych Vinnytsia Music College, and also headed the choir of the Pedagogical Institute.

In 1984, he founded a chamber choir in Vinnytsia.

He died on 20 March 2019 at the age of 74.
