Garkusha Vladimir Grigorievich

1952-2023

Harkusha Volodymyr Hryhorovych (05.07.1952, Chernihiv) - conductor.

Honoured Artist of Ukraine (1999). He graduated from the Ural Conservatory in Sverdlovsk, now Yekaterinburg (1976, class of P. Pavlov's accordion; 1982, class of M. Paverman's conducting).

In 1982-90, he worked as an assistant to the chief conductor, stage director of the Sverdlovsk Opera and Ballet Theatre.

From 1990 he worked at the Dnipropetrovs'k Opera and Ballet Theatre as a stage conductor, and from 1994 - as a chief conductor.

V. Harkusha's creative style is characterised by a deep psychological analysis of each piece of music.

He has directed the following performances: "Nabucco (1992), Otello (1994) by G. Verdi, Romeo and Juliet by S. Prokofiev (1993), The Nutcracker (1993), Eugene Onegin (2001) by P. Tchaikovsky. Tchaikovsky, Carmen by Bizet (1995), Tosca (1996), La bohème (1998), Turandot (1999) by Puccini, and La rustiche della honneur by Mascagni (1997).
