Garkusha Grigory Yakimovich

Hryhorii Yakymovych Harkusha (born 3 April 1941, Shestirnia village, Shyrokivskyi district, Dnipro region) is a Ukrainian singer, People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1988). Academician of the International Academy of Spiritual Unification of the World (1998). Holder of the Presidential Award - the Order of Merit (1996). Chevalier of the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, V degree (2011). Laureate of the I. Nechuy-Levytsky Prize (1998).
He was born on 3 April 1941 in Sheshirnia village, Dnipro region.

He studied at the Moscow Conservatory (1966-1971) in the class of Professor O. Sveshnikova.

Since 1971 he has been a soloist (baritone) of the Kyiv Philharmonic.

Since 1993, he has been a lecturer at the Kyiv Conservatory (at the Department of Solo Singing, since 1998 - Professor), in 1995-2000 - at the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts.

Creative work.
His concert programmes include vocal works by G. F. Handel, R. Schumann, F. Schubert, E. Grieg, R. Leoncavallo, M. Lysenko, Y. Stepovyi, A. Kos-Anatolskyi, H. Maiboroda, O. Bilash.

He toured abroad.

Among his students are R. Sukhyi (USA), S. Dyachenko.

Television films with his participation: "Outstanding Ukrainians" (2011) and "Soul Well" (2012).
