Ganitsky Tadei Denisovich

Tadei Denysovych Hanytskyi (Russian: Фаддей Дionysovych Ганицкий; 10 July (22 July) 1844, Chemerisy-Volosky village, Mohyliv district, Podillia province, now Zhuravlivka, Bar district, Vinnytsia region - 12 February 1937, Kamianets-Podilskyi) was a Ukrainian violinist, teacher, conductor, and composer.
Tadei Denysovych Hanytskyi was born on July 10 (July 22, according to the new style), 1844 in the village of Chemerisy-Volosky, Mohyliv district, Podillia province, now Zhuravlivka, Bar district, Vinnytsia region. He was the older brother of cellist Hnat Hanitsky.

In 1872 he graduated from the Vienna Conservatory, and in 1876 - from the Berlin Academy of Music. From 1877 he was a violin soloist and professor at the Conservatory in Berlin.

In 1894-1901 he worked in Warsaw and Lodz, in 1901-1902 - in St. Petersburg.

In 1902, he opened a music school in Bar (now Vinnytsia region), and in 1903, in Kamianets-Podilskyi (it operated intermittently until 1921). Among the students of the school were violinists Mykhailo Karevych, Arkadii Hurfinkel, and cellist Semen Hleisel.

In 1907, he founded the Podil Music Society, and in 1914, a symphony orchestra with which he performed.

In 1927-1930, he was the director and professor of a music vocational school, and from 1930 he was a professor at the Mykola Lysenko Music College in Kamianets-Podilskyi.

He died on February 12, 1937 in Kamianets-Podilskyi. He was buried at the Ruskofilvarets Cemetery.

Author of symphonic works, works for violin, arrangements of Ukrainian folk songs, educational and methodological developments.

In 2003, the Kamianets-Podilskyi Central Children's Music School was named after Tadei Hanitskyi.
