Hedwiga (Geda) Halytska (b. 6 January 1884, Chernivtsi - ca. 1967) was a Ukrainian pianist, musicologist and teacher.
Biography.
Halytska was born on 6 January 1884 in Chernivtsi. She studied in Chernivtsi at the Teacher's Seminary and the Vienna Conservatory, where Yevseviy Mandychevskyi taught her basic musical disciplines. After graduating from the conservatory, she returned to Chernivtsi, and in 1906-1924 she taught at the music school of the Boyan Society and the Philharmonic Society.
In 1924, a conservatory was opened in Chernivtsi, and Hedwiga Halytska worked there until the institution was closed in 1944. Along with her teaching work, she took part in classical concerts and performed with such professional composers as Otakar Grzimali, Alexandru Zirra, and Theodor Tarnavsky. After the closure of the Chernivtsi Conservatory, she was invited to the Conservatory of Timisoara (Romania), where she taught until 1949.
She probably died in 1967.
