Ukrainian musician, actor, frontman and vocalist of the bands DakhaBrakha and OY Sound System. Actor of the Dakh Theater in Kyiv. Winner of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine in 2020, author of the famous phrase "Good evening, we are from Ukraine!".
Biography

Marko Halanevych was born on April 14, 1981, in the village of Krusynivka, Vinnytsia region, where he lived until he was three years old. He was raised by his grandparents, who both sang at weddings and performed funeral services for the dead. His parents worked as teachers in another village. Little Marko accompanied his grandmother to all the events. During his school years, Marko's family moved to the village of Plavske in the Kherson region, where the future musician finished school.

Marko received his higher education in Ukrainian Language and Literature at the Institute of Philology of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, graduating in 2003. While studying at the university, Marko Halanevych sang in the Dnipro Choir for a year.

In 2002, he joined the DAKH Theater, where, according to Galanevych, he went through the entire theater kitchen from an editor and lighting designer to a sound engineer and actor.

Since 2004, Halanevych has been a member of the ethnic music group DakhaBrakha. He plays the didgeridoo, accordion, darbuka, tabla, trombone, drums, and other folk instruments. He also makes sketches and sketches for music videos and video sequences that are shown at the band's performances.

In 2020, Galanevych, along with Tsybulska, Harenetska, and Kovalenko, as part of the DakhaBrakha band, won the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine for their album The Way, winning in the Musical Art nomination.
