Gaidamaka Petro Danilovich

1907-1981

Petro Danylovych Haydamaka (*12 July 1907, Ivanivka village, Izium district, Kharkiv province (now a district of Kramatorsk, Donetsk region) - †7 September 1981, Kharkiv) was a composer, conductor, and public figure. He graduated from the Kharkiv Conservatory, composition class of S. Bohatyryov and M. Tits, and graduated from the Kharkiv Conservatory with a degree in conducting from V. Tolba (1938).

Conductor of the Kharkiv Regional Radio (1938-1941), director of the Kharkiv Opera and Ballet Theater (1941-1946), artistic director of the Kharkiv Philharmonic (1951-1967). He was the head of the Kharkiv branch of the UWC (1949-1981). 3Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1967), People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1977).
