Yevhen Vasylovych Dushchenko (23 June 1925, Odesa - 25 April 2011, Kyiv) was a Ukrainian conductor, People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (since 1982).
Yevhen Vasylovych Dushchenko was born on 23 June 1925 in Odesa, in the family of a printer. In 1944 he was mobilised to the front. He was wounded in action. He was demobilised in 1946.
In 1950, he graduated from the Odesa Conservatory as a choirmaster (class of K. Pyhrov); in 1953, he graduated from the Kyiv Conservatory (class of opera and symphony conducting of V. Piradov).
In 1950-1953 - choirmaster of the Ukrainian Choir "Dumka".
In 1953 - conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of the Ukrainian Radio.
In 1953-1957, he was the conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of the Odesa Philharmonic, while teaching choir-master disciplines at the Odesa Conservatory.
In 1957-1959 he was the conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of the Ukrainian Radio.
In 1959-1963, he was the chief conductor of the Kharkiv Philharmonic.
In 1963-73, Yevhen Dushchenko was the chief conductor of the Kharkiv Opera and Ballet Theatre, in 1973-83 - of the Kyiv Operetta Theatre, in 1983-89 - of the Kyiv Children's Music Theatre.
From 1959 to 1972, he taught at the Kharkiv Institute of Arts, where he also directed the student symphony orchestra. His graduates in the class of opera and symphony conducting are Viktor Mutin, Shaliko Paltadzhyan, and Mykola Shpak.
Since 1973, he has been teaching at the Kyiv Conservatory (since 1986 he has been a professor). Among his graduates is A. Markhlevskyi.
