Serhii Fedorovych Durdukovskyi (pseudonym Albov; 23 January 1880, Myrovka - 15 July 1933, Kyiv) was a singer (lyrical and dramatic tenor), teacher, musician and public figure, member of the M. Leontovych Music Society.
Biography.
He was born on 23 January 1880 in the village of Myrivtsi, Kyiv district, Kyiv province (now Kaharlyk district, Kyiv region) in the family of a priest.
After graduating from the Kyiv Theological Seminary in 1900-1902, he studied singing at the Moscow Music School of O. Gnesina. In 1903-1904, he served military service, and in 1909-1912 he toured Russian cities (Tomsk, Irkutsk, and others) under the pseudonym Albov. In the 1913-1914 season, he sang at the Kyiv Operetta Theatre. During the First World War, he worked at the 57th evacuation centre at the Kyiv-Tovarny station.
In 1918, he returned to his artistic activity, and in the 1918-1920s he was a soloist in the choirs of O. Koshytsia and K. Stetsenko. From 1920 to 1924, he taught choral singing at the Mykola Lysenko Kyiv Music and Drama Institute. In 1924, he founded the vocal quartet named after Yakiv Stepovyi (with M. Donets and M. Mykysha), and in 1926-1931 he led amateur musical groups on the Orenburg railway. In the last years of his life, he worked at the Dnipro Philharmonic.
He died on 15 July 1933. He was buried in Kyiv at the Lukianivske Cemetery (plot No. 13-3, row 3, place 11).
