Duda Volodymyr Ivanovych

Volodymyr Ivanovych Duda (born 28 July 1948, Lviv) is a Soviet and Ukrainian violinist. Honoured Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1989), awarded the Order of Merit III degree (2009).

Biography.
In 1971, he graduated from the Lviv Conservatory (class of A. Weisfeld). Since 1969 (with a break) he has been working at the Lviv Philharmonic: in 1979-1991 he was a concertmaster of the symphony orchestra, since 1994 - the head and concertmaster of the chamber orchestra "Lviv Virtuosos" and solo instrumentalist of the Philharmonic. In 1990-1993, he was a concertmaster of the Polish Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra in Gdansk. Since 2000 he has been a member of the international orchestra The Tekfen Black See Philharmonic Orchestra.

He performs in quartets and trios. His repertoire includes works by J. Haydn, W. A. Mozart, L. van Beethoven, F. Schubert, J. Kofler, V. Silvestrov, E. Stankovich, M. Skoryk. Duda's performing style is characterised by virtuosity, purity of style, attention to the adequacy of the author's intention in the performance of new music. He has participated in the International Music Festivals "Contrasts" and "Virtuosos" in Lviv, and a number of festivals in Poland. As a member of the orchestra and as a soloist he toured in Poland, Turkey, Israel, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Bulgaria, Greece, Russia, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan.
