Doroshenko Kostiantyn Leontiyovych

1906-1992

Kostiantyn Leontiiovych Doroshenko (b. 6 December 1906, Yenakiyevo - d. 30 July 1992, Kharkiv, Ukraine) was a Soviet and Ukrainian conductor and teacher.
Biography.
He graduated from the Kharkiv First Real School and the First Music Trade School, violin class of A. M. Consistorum.

In 1923-1925, he studied at the Kharkiv State Music College, violin class of V. M. Goldfeld.

In 1925-1931, he studied at the Kharkiv Music and Drama Institute, music theory classes of S. Bohatyrev and opera and symphony conducting of Y. Rosenstein. He attended rehearsals, opera performances and concerts of famous conductors - L. P. Steinberg, M. A. Malko, V. V. Berdyaev and others.

In 1929-1930, he was the conductor of the student symphony orchestra at the Ukrainian Philharmonic.

In 1930-1935 - conductor of the Kharkiv State Metropolitan Opera.

In 1932-1934, he improved his skills under the guidance of Herman Adler, the chief conductor of the Ukrainian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and a lecturer at the Kharkiv Music and Drama Institute, later a world-renowned conductor.

In 1929-1934, he taught at the Kharkiv Music and Theatre College.

In the season of 1934/1935, he completed an internship in Leningrad under the direction of the outstanding Austrian conductor Fritz Stiedry, a pupil of Gustav Mahler, and in 1934-1937 he led the Leningrad Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra.

In 1935-1936, he was the conductor of the Kharkiv Experimental Opera Studio.

In 1934-1938, he taught at the Kharkiv Pedagogical Institute.

In 1936-1938 - conductor of the symphony orchestra and music editor of the Kharkiv Regional Radio Committee.

In 1936-1941, he taught instrumentation and reading orchestral scores at the Kharkiv Music School.

From 1936 he was a senior lecturer at the Kharkiv State Conservatory, from 1944 he was an associate professor of the conducting and choir-master faculty, from 1948-1957 he was the head of the department of folk instruments, from 1963-1968 he was the head of the department of folk instruments at the Kharkiv Institute of Arts, from 1963-1990 he was an acting professor of the department of folk instruments.
