Oleh Dorosh (22 April 1944, Tyapche, Dolyna district, Ivano-Frankivsk region - 11 April 1999, Tyapche) was a Ukrainian singer, tenor, and soloist of the Medicus jazz ensemble.
Biography.
Oleg Dorosh was born on 22 April 1944 in the village of Tyapche, Dolyna district, Ivano-Frankivsk region. He grew up in a singing family. After graduating from Bolekhiv Secondary School, he entered the two-year vocal studio of the Kyiv Bandura Chapel. He did his military service in the late 1960s as part of the song and dance ensemble of the Kyiv Military District. His colleagues in the ensemble were Ivan Karabyts, Volodymyr Zarkov, and Viktor Herasymov. After completing his military service, he entered the Lviv Medical Institute. While studying at the medical institute, he became the soloist of the institute's jazz ensemble Medicus under the direction of Igor Khoma. After graduating, he devoted himself to his singing career.
After the dissolution of the Medicus ensemble, Oleg Dorosh was a member of such groups as the Kyiv Bandura Choir, the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Kyiv Military District, the Transcarpathian Folk Choir, the Volyn Folk Choir, the Hutsul Song and Dance Ensemble, the Berkut Vocal Ensemble of the Ivano-Frankivsk Philharmonic, the Ne Zhurys' Theatre, and the variety group led by People's Artist of Ukraine Mykola Hnatyuk of the Khmelnytsky Philharmonic.
In 1999, Oleh Dorosh passed away prematurely. He was buried in his native village of Tyapche.
Creative work.
One of the most popular songs performed by Oleh Dorosh was the song "Silver Circle" (music by Ihor Khoma, lyrics by Bohdan Stelmakh). The song was written in 1969, was often broadcast on Ukrainian radio and was included in the Grand VIA Medicus album of 1974. The 1976 disc million "Songs by Ivan Popovych" included two songs performed by Oleh Dorosh "Play, Sopilka" (I. Popovych - I. Petrovtsiy) and "My Love" (I. Popovych - I. Petrovtsiy).
In 1972, in a duet with Volodymyr Ivasyuk, he was the first performer of Volodymyr's song "Song will be among us" accompanied by the VIA "Pulse", recorded on Lviv radio.
In 2009, 10 years after the singer's death, Lviv singer Orest Tsymbala released a CD entitled "Oleh Dorosh Sings" at the Nash Format publishing house, which included 18 songs from the State TV and Radio Archive. In the same year, the Nash Format publishing house released a CD entitled Songs by Ihor Khoma, which included 9 songs performed by Oleh Dorosh.
Commemorative events
In October 2009, in the town of Dolyna, Ivano-Frankivsk region, a requiem concert "Silver Circle" was held to mark the 10th anniversary of Oleh Dorosh's death. The concert was attended by People's Artists of Ukraine Mykhailo Kryven and Ostap Havrysh, as well as Oleg Dorosh's friends in song and music, and artistic groups from the Dolyna district.
