Scandals
Criticism in Russia
"Normal couple" with Dorn at a concert organized by Yanukovych (December 28, 2009, Dnipro)

In the summer of 2014, Dorn took part in the "New Wave" festival in Jurmala, where he performed the Ukrainian-language song of the band Scriabin - Dance of the Penguin, wearing a sweater with the image of a Ukrainian trident. This act received favorable reviews in Ukraine. In Russia, because of this, the singer was proposed to be banned. Later, in April 2017, in an interview with the Russian publication vDud, when asked about his pro-Ukrainian speech in Jurmala in 2014, he stated that "... this speech is called "not to jump into trouble". I thought that it is necessary to go with a Ukrainian song in order to carry the culture, it is necessary to go out with a trident so that no one stinks because of the costume."
Civic position

Despite the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine, he continued to perform in Russia.

In 2014, TV presenter Serhiy Prytula claimed that he used Dorn's money to buy a jeep, optics and helmets for the ATO armed forces, but in an interview with the Russian publication VDud Dorn stated that this was not true, and that he allegedly donated the money to victims in Mariupol after the shelling in 2015 .

In January 2017, during Ivan Dorn's performance in Lviv, the singer declared that he was a Ukrainian artist, even abroad. Despite these statements and regardless of the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine, he continued to speak in Russia after 2014. In November 2016, he performed with the Kharkiv singer SunSay (former leader of the 5Nizza band) in the "Evening Urgant" program on the First Channel of Russia.

On April 7, 2017, information appeared that Ivan Dorn took a selfie with Russian artists Prigozhyn and Valeria, banned in Ukraine. In a comment to a journalist of the Russian publication "KP in Ukraine", he joked that he "forgot that they are prohibited."

Subsequently, on April 11, 2017, during his interview with the Russian newspaper vDud, he stated that he considers Ukrainians and Russians "brothers", that "between Ukrainians and Russians there is nothing but friendship", and called the war in eastern Ukraine "a quarrel between the elder and younger brother (ed. Russia and Ukraine)" and explained that soon "everyone will reconcile".
Speech in Ufa (Russian Federation), March 13, 2016

The statements regarding Ukraine that Dorn made in an April interview with the Russian publication vDudy caused a stir in Ukrainian society. In particular, the Ukrainian writer Sashko Lirnyk summed up Dorn's statements by noting that not all artists who publicly show their alleged love for Ukraine are its patriots.

On February 24, 2023, he planned to publish an album where one of the remixes was created by Russian DJ Philipp Gorbachev. After criticism, Ivan stated that he did not know about the author of this track and postponed the release of the single.
Art

In March 2017, he released the English-language clip "Collaba", shot in Los Angeles. The work received mixed reviews from critics. In addition, the video has a lot in common with the work "The Prodigy - Firestarter", and the image of Ivan Dorn in the video is with the author of the original track Keith Flint.
