Dombrovsky Marian Pavlovich

1876-1939

Marian Pavlovych Dombrowski (born 25 March 1876, Zhytomyr - died after 1939, Warsaw) was a Ukrainian and Polish pianist and teacher.

Biography.
He was born on 13 (25) March 1876 in Zhytomyr (now Ukraine). In 1900 he graduated from the St Petersburg Conservatoire (class of Anna Esipova) and studied at the Vienna Conservatoire (class of Theodor Leshetitsky). In 1898 he made his debut in Warsaw, performed in Vienna (in 1900 he took part in the 3rd Anton Rubinstein International Competition); he toured Russia, Austria and Poland. His repertoire included works by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Vladyslav Zaremba, and Fryderyk Chopin.

He was also engaged in teaching. Since 1907 he was a professor at the Kyiv Conservatory; in 1926-1939 - at the Lviv Conservatory; in 1930-1939 - at the Higher School of Music in Warsaw. He died in Warsaw after 1939.
