Dobrzhynets Ilya Vladimirovich

Ilya Volodymyrovych Dobrzhynets (* 14 August 1889, Warsaw - † 30 August 1960, Leningrad) was a Ukrainian and Russian conductor, violinist and teacher.

Biography.
He came from the family of a military bandmaster. In 1902, he graduated from the Warsaw Institute of Music, class of S. Bartsevich.

In 1910, he graduated from the St. Petersburg Conservatory, violin class of L. S. Auer, and since then he has performed as a soloist and concertmaster of symphony orchestras in the cities of the Russian Empire - Voronezh, Helsinki, Rostov-on-Don, Kharkiv.

Since 1918, he has lived in Kharkiv: soloist and concertmaster of the Opera House Orchestra, lecturer at the Conservatory and the Music and Drama Institute, and taught at the Kharkiv Music School. In 1920, he became a professor at the Kharkiv Conservatory.

Since 1931, he worked as a conductor and concertmaster of the Kharkiv Philharmonic.

Since 1932, he has been a soloist and concertmaster of the State Symphony Orchestra of the Ukrainian SSR.

He is the author of "Rhythmic Etudes" for violin and transcriptions for violin of works by Ukrainian composers.
