Dobkevich Anton Kazimirovich

Anton Kazymyrovych Dobkiewicz (born 7 October 1875, Kyiv - died 27 August 1956, Lodz) was a Ukrainian and Polish pianist and music teacher.

Biography.
He was born on 25 September [7 October] 1875 in Kyiv. In 1897 he graduated from the Faculty of Law of St Volodymyr's University in Kyiv; in 1901 - from the Kyiv Music School of the Russian Musical Society (piano class of Volodymyr Pukhalskyi); in 1902 - from the Vienna Academy of Music (class of Theodor Leshetytskyi).

In 1904-1910, he taught at the Smolensk Musical College; in 1910-1913 - at the Kyiv Musical College of the Russian Musical Society (Anatolii Butskyi was among his students). In 1913, he graduated from the St. Petersburg Conservatory as an external student.

In 1913-1920 he taught at the Kyiv Conservatory; in 1922-1926 he was a professor at the Warsaw Conservatory. From 1929 to 1939, he taught privately in Lodz; in 1945-1956, he taught at the Lodz Conservatory. He died in Lodz on 27 August 1956.
