Diduh Volodymyr Yevhenovich

1937-2016

Ukrainian singer (baritone), winner of the Shevchenko Prize in 1985 for his concert programs of 1982-1984, People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR in 1987.

Biography.

He was born on March 25, 1937 in the village of Ivankivtsi, now Khmelnytskyi district, Khmelnytskyi region, Ukraine. In 1963 he graduated from the Khmelnytsky Music College.

In 1963-1966, he performed in the Bandura Band of the Ukrainian SSR, from 1966 - as a member of the male vocal quartet "Yavir" and until the 2010s - together with Valentyn Reus.

In 1982, the band performed in Afghanistan, and also in Hungary, Poland, Germany, Slovakia, and Mongolia; in 1983, the band performed in Montreal, participating in the International Trade Fair "Man and His World" - 54 concerts.

In 1986, Yavir performed on the stage of the House of Culture in Prypiat and other places within the 30-kilometer-long Chornobyl zone - about 80 concerts, and provided voice acting for the movie Two Colors of Time about the tragedy. Volodymyr Didukh has a certificate of liquidator of the Chornobyl accident. During a performance for the liquidators, the quartet lost their voice - it was impossible to perform with respirators, and all the listeners were wearing masks.

1989, as part of Yavor, he takes part in the Folklorama 89 folk festival in Winnipeg. 1991 - Canadian-American tour of 32 cities. In the same year, a jubilee concert at the Ukraine Palace to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the band.

Awarded the Order of Merit, 3rd class.
