Yulia Oleksiivna Dibrova is a Ukrainian composer, film composer, musicologist, author of a number of scientific articles, member of the National Union of Composers of Ukraine, winner of international and national art competitions and festivals. For her significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian musical art, she was awarded the Kyiv Mayor's Award and included in the Encyclopedia of Modern Ukraine.
She was born on May 7, 1979 in the village of Chornukhy, Poltava region.
In 1996, after graduating from high school, she entered the Mykola Lysenko Poltava Music College as a second-year student at the Theory Department to gain a thorough knowledge of music theory. She completes her first year as an external student.
At the college, Yulia continues to study composition and participates in national competitions, where she wins prizes.
Immediately after graduating from the music school, in 1999, she entered the composition faculty of the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine in the class of academician, professor Yevhen Stankovych, Hero of Ukraine, Shevchenko Prize winner.
Already during her studies at the Academy, Yulia began working with famous stage directors such as: Boris Sharvarko, Yuri Perenchuk, Alexander Leshchenko, Dmitry Mukharsky, Yuri Bima and others.
Yulia created music for large-scale productions that took place at the Palace of Arts "Ukraine", the National Opera and Ballet Theater with the participation of show business stars such as Sofia Rotaru, Alexander Ponomarev, Ani Lorak, Alyona Vinnytska, Forsyth Ballet and many others.
After graduating from the Academy and receiving her Master's degree, Yulia continued her postgraduate studies and began teaching, and later began to combine her teaching activities with the position of Deputy Dean at the University of Ukraine. At the same time, she began working on her PhD thesis under the supervision of Myroslav Skoryk and Olga Putiatytska.
Since 2005, Yulia Dibrova has been a member of the National Union of Composers of Ukraine. Today, the composer works in all areas of musical art: she composes in the genres of symphonic, choral, chamber, and pop music. She also creates music for theater and cinema. Her works include symphonies, oratorios, choruses, music for theater productions, and film soundtracks.
In 2010, at the request of Volodymyr Groysman (then the mayor of Vinnytsia), Yulia wrote the anthem of the city of Vinnytsia.
Yulia continues to work with stage directors and film directors, and in creative collaboration with her brother Oleksiy Dibrova, she composes songs for Ukrainian artists.
