Deryazhnyi Fedor Mikhailovich

1905-1982

Fedir Mykhailovych Deryazhnyi (b. 29 March 1905, Novi Sanzhary - d. 29 April 1982, Newcastle) was a master of musical instruments, bandura player.

He received an accounting degree. In 1931, he made his first bandura. Since then, he started working at a factory in Poltava where banduras were made. After the war, he had his own musical instrument workshop in Wasserberg, Germany, where he made banduras and cymbals. In 1950, he moved to Australia. He is a songwriter and composer.

F. Deryazhnyi's banduras were played by his sons P. Deryazhnyi, H. Bazhul, and V. Mishalov. H. Bazhul's instrument made by F. Deryazhnyi is in the museum of kobza art in Pereiaslav.
