Derkach Volodymyr Fedorovych (born on 1 January 1957, Yabluchne village, Velykopysarivskyi district, Sumy region) - military conductor, teacher. Major General (2002). Winner of international competitions. People's Artist of Ukraine (2004).
Biography.
He graduated from the Sumy Music College (1977, trumpet class of O. Garshin), the Faculty of Military Conductors of the Moscow Conservatory (1986, class of Y. Tutynin), and the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management (Kyiv, 2005).
In 1975-1977 - an artist of the orchestra of the Sumy Music and Drama Theatre named after M. Shchepkin.
In 1977-1981, he was a musician of the 14th Orchestra of the Headquarters of the Kyiv Military District.
Since 1986 - Deputy Chief, Military Conductor of the Orchestra of the Headquarters of the Odesa Military District.
Since 1990 - military conductor of the Odesa Artillery Command School; since 1992 - Deputy Chief of the Military Band Service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Since 1995 - Chief of the Military Band Service - Chief Military Conductor of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Since 2004 - Head of the Military Music Department - Chief Military Conductor of the Armed Forces of Ukraine; at the same time, since 2005 - Associate Professor of the Department of Wind and Percussion Instruments of the Kyiv University of Culture and Arts.
He initiated the creation of the Department of Military Conductor Training at the Military Institute at Lviv Polytechnic University. Since 1995, as the artistic director and chief conductor of the Kyiv Garrison Band, he has provided musical accompaniment for the military parade on Khreshchatyk Street in Kyiv, concerts and music festivals during state holidays in Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, Dnipro and other cities; receptions for state and official visits of foreign heads of state, delegations, etc.
He is one of the organisers of the Orchestra of the Presidential Regiment of Honour.
