Demidov Kuzma Prokhorovich

1868-1931

Kuzma Prokhorovych Demydov (1868, Uman - 12 September 1931, Kyiv) was an artist of opera (bass), drama and choral conductor.

Biography.

Demydov was born in 1868 in Uman. From 1889 he performed in the Ukrainian companies of H. Derkach, M. Kropyvnytskyi, M. Sadovsky, P. Saksahanskyi, O. Sukhodolskyi, and from 1903 - in various opera companies.

In 1918-1921 he was a soloist at the Kyiv Opera. In the same years, he was the regent of the choir of St Volodymyr's Cathedral in Kyiv.

He died on 12 September 1931. He was buried in Kyiv at the Lukianivske Cemetery (plot 30, row 9, place 8 (1)). In 2000, his granddaughter, Liudmyla Protsenko, was buried with him.
