Ukrainian and American musician, also a composer and producer. He works in jazz, blues, rock, and classical styles. Television producer, actor. He speaks English, Spanish, Polish, Russian. He is the founder of the American Music Academy in Kyiv.
Biography
Family.
Born into a creative family. His father, Mykhailo Debriansky, worked as a theater actor until the age of 25. His mother is a dentist.
Education.
After graduating from high school in Kalush, he entered the Lviv Polytechnic State University, where he later graduated with honors.
Since childhood, he studied jazz and classical music. In his youth, he became a member of the Ukrainian bands Forte, Tea Lovers Club, and Loony Pelen, with whom he recorded songs in Ukrainian and Polish studios.
With the Ukrainian band Skryabin, he went to a festival in Germany on Berlin's Independence Day.
The New-York Time magazine published an article about Volodymyr. The Americans took notice of him. He was invited to come to study at the Berklee College of Music, Boston, USA.
The American period
In 1991, I received an invitation from the Berklee Academy of Music, but I had to go at my own expense. I needed 700 dollars, an astronomical amount at the time. He collected money from his friends, including Ruslana Lyzhychko.
1994 - Studied at Berklee College, where he took guitar lessons from John Finn and Norman Zocher. Then he moved to New York, where he studied with Mick Stern and John Abercrombie. In 1995, he was living in New York in a very difficult situation, sleeping on the streets, working menial jobs, cleaning houses from rats. Eventually, his cassette was noticed by managers and he was offered cooperation from Blue Note Records, GRP Records. He signed a contract with Orpheus Music, and the collaboration lasted for 10 years. During this period, Vladimir moved to California.
In 2004, he released his debut album Vladosphere. This album and the song "Little Star" flooded American radio stations from New York to Los Angeles, reaching the 4th position on the American chart, ahead of such stars as Phil Collins or Lenny Kravitz. His next album, Sun In Capricorn, was played on classical music radio stations in the United States and received a Grammy nomination.
He has worked as a producer and songwriter with such famous artists as: Donna Summer, Lauryn Gill, Katy Perry, Tony Levine, Pat Mastelotto, King Crimson, Orient, Holly Knight, Skyler Jett, Billy Sheehan, Joe DeFrancesco, Rainey Sun, Nile Rodgers, Arno Lucas and many others.
In 2014, he formed the band "Jacks Last Dollar" and recorded a new album "Part I", which reached #14 on the iTunes blues charts in the United States.
In August 2016, he released a digital album simply titled Blues.
Movies and TV
In the fall of 2009, the History Chanel channel released the series "The Nostradamus Effect: Da Vinci's Armageddon", where Vladimir played the role of Da Vinci.
According to him, he often receives offers from Hollywood directors to play a vampire.
Electric cars
He is a representative of the electric car company ZAP Automobiles.
Social and political activities
As a representative of the Berklee College of Music, he founded the American Music Academy in Kyiv. The school offers modern music education as well as music production. Among the school's faculty are well-known musicians and music producers: Tom Rothrock, Reginald Love, Adam Joseph, Jerry Brown and others.
He is a member of the Artistic Council for Youth Affairs of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra at Carnegie Hall.
