Darnopykh Dokiya

Dokiya Darnopykh (*1 March 1895, Platnyrivska - 20th century, Kuban?) - bandura player, teacher.

Biography.
She was born in the Kuban. She graduated from the Ust-Labinsk Women's Two-Year School, the Katerynodar Teachers' Seminary, and the Krasnodar Teachers' Institute. A graduate of the Second Kuban Kobza School, founded in 1916. One of the "pioneers of kobza in the Kuban" (V. Yemets' expression). Along with A. Chornyi, V. Liashenko, and I. Semenyshyn, she was one of V. Yemets's most talented students. She played a diatonic bandura made by Kyiv master A. Paplynskyi, which was presented to her by M. Bohuslavskyi. As a bandura soloist, she actively promoted kobza art among students and schoolchildren. She also taught. She tried to continue her performances during the Soviet era, but suddenly disappeared, "just like the Bolsheviks do when everyone disappears" (A. Chornyi's expression).
