Ukrainian composer, pianist, teacher, People's Artist of the USSR (1954).
Biography
He was born on December 11 (24), 1905 in Odessa. In 1929, he graduated from the Odessa Music and Drama Institute, where he studied with Mykola Vilinsky and Maria Rybytska. Since then, his teacher. During the Second World War, he was evacuated to Tbilisi, where he led the song and dance ensemble of the NKVD troops of the Transcaucasia.
After the end of the war, he returned to Odessa, where he held the position of rector of the conservatory (1944–1951), as well as the head of the department of composition. In 1946, he became a member of the CPSU(b). Since 1953, he has been a professor at the Kyiv Conservatory. Among his students are Borys Alekseenko, Kostyantyn Myaskov, Georgy Miretsky and others.
Elected as a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian SSR for 4-6 convocations (1955–1967). In 1956–1967, he was the chairman of the board of the Union of Composers of Ukraine. He was elected many times as a deputy of the Kyiv City Council of Workers' Deputies, was a member of the Soviet Committee for the Protection of Peace, the chairman of the Romanian-Soviet Friendship Society, a member of the Committee on Lenin and State Prizes of the USSR.
He lived in Kyiv at Pushkinska Street, 21. He died on February 26, 1984. Buried in Kyiv at the Baikovo cemetery.

honors
In 1978, Konstantin Dankevich and six other artists were awarded the State Prize of the Ukrainian SSR named after Taras Shevchenko for the opera "Bohdan Khmelnytskyi" (new edition) at the Dnipropetrovsk Opera and Ballet Theater. Kostyantyn Dankevich was also awarded the Order of Lenin (1960), the Order of the Red Banner of Labor (1954), and a number of honorary medals.

The name of K. F. Dankevich was assigned to the Odesa Music School.
On November 28, 1985, a memorial plaque (bronze; bas-relief; sculptor O. O. Kovalev, architect O. B. Ivantsov) was installed in the building on Pushkinska Street (modern Yevhena Chikalenko), 21, where the composer lived from 1952 to 1984, in Kyiv. .
In 1987, a street in Kyiv was named after him.
