Oleksandr Danylov was a Ukrainian military conductor and teacher. Honoured Artist of Latvia (1970).
Professor (1996). Honoured Artist of the Latvian SSR (1970). SSR (1970). Laureate of the All-Union Festival of Folk Art (1968), the competition of military conductors of the USSR Armed Forces (1972). Graduated from the Leningrad Conservatory. Leningrad Conservatoire (now St. Petersburg, 1947; class of D. Musin conducting, class of M. Schmidt trumpet). 1947-56 - military conductor of the orchestras of the Pacific and Black Sea Fleets; 1956-79 - head of the military orchestral service, at the same time - artistic director of the orchestras of the Black Sea Fleet, Siberian, Baltic and Kyiv military districts, headquarters of the Group of Forces in Germany; 1979-88 - artistic director of the Ukrtelefilm studio; since 1988 - lecturer. Author of works for soloists, brass and pop orchestras.
