Choni Dmitriy

1993

A winner of numerous international competitions, Dmytro has already gained a reputation as a concert pianist of international standing. He won the Gold Medal at the Paloma O'Shea Santander International Piano Competition (Spain, 2018). Winner of many prestigious competitions: Vendome Prize at the Verbier Festival (Switzerland, 2019), Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition (Italy, 2017), International Competition in Memory of Volodymyr Horovytsia (Ukraine, 2017), Suzhou International Piano Competition (China, 2017), San Marino International Piano Competition (San Marino, 2016). First Prize of the Bösendorfer USASU International Piano Competition (USA, 2019), First Prize of the Los Angeles International Piano Competition (USA, 2018), First Prize and Audience Award of the ZF-Musikpreis International Piano Competition (Germany, 2018), First Prize of the Rome International Piano Competition (Italy, 2017), First Prize of the Tucumán International Piano Competition (Argentina, 2016). In 2019, Dmytro was awarded the prestigious Prix du Piano Bern at the Interlaken Classics (Switzerland). In autumn 2017, he was awarded the Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli Prize, the main prize of the Academy of Pianists in Eppan (Italy).

Dmytro performed at the Kissinger Sommer Festival in Germany, Verbier Festival in Switzerland, Dubrovnik Summer Festival in Croatia, Granada Festival in Spain, Stars and Rising Stars in Germany, Festival Internacional Cervantino in Mexico, Santander International Festival in Spain, VP Bank Classic Festival in Switzerland. Dmitriy was also the main guest soloist at the Olive Classic Festival in Croatia.

Particularly important in his career were performances at the Wigmore Hall in London, Salle Cortot in Paris, Minato Mirai Hall in Yokohama and Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires.

Dmytro Choni was born in Kyiv in 1993. He started taking piano lessons at the age of four with Galina Zaslavets. He studied in Kyiv with Nina Naidych and Professor Yuriy Kot. He is currently a student at the University of Music and Theatre Arts Graz, class of Professor Milana Cherniavska.

Dmytro is a scholarship holder and regular participant of the International Music Academy in the Principality of Liechtenstein, and since 2017 he has been receiving grant support from the VERE MUSIC FUND.
