Ihor Volodymyrovych Chetuev (29 January 1980, Sevastopol) is a Ukrainian pianist, professor at the Higher School of Music and Theatre in Hannover.
Biography.
Igor Chetuev was born on 29 January 1980 in Sevastopol. He studied at the Sevastopol Children's Music School No. 1 with teachers Natalia Pereferkovych and Tetyana Kim. During his studies, he received diplomas at international competitions for young pianists in the German city of Ettlingen (1992), the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow (1992), and won first prize at the All-Ukrainian Competition named after Sergei Rachmaninoff in Kherson (1993). In 1994, he won the Grand Prix and several special prizes at the Vladimir Krainev International Competition for Young Pianists in Kharkiv. At the invitation of Krainev, in 1997 he continued his studies under his tutelage at the Higher School of Music and Theatre in Hanover, Germany.
In 1998, he won the First Prize and the Audience Award at the Arthur Rubinstein International Master Piano Competition in Israel. After winning, he toured the cities of Germany and the Middle East.
In total, he toured more than 40 countries. He took part in international music festivals in Calmar (France), Gstaad (Switzerland), Braunschweig (Germany), etc. As a soloist, he has performed with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine[1], the Symphony Orchestra of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine, the national orchestras of France and Belgium, the philharmonic orchestras of St. Petersburg, The Hague and Luxembourg, the Israel Philharmonic and Israel Chamber Orchestras, the State Chamber Orchestra "Virtuosi of Moscow" and many others. He plays with the Szymanowski Quartet[2], in chamber ensembles with Ukrainian violinists Valery Sokolov and Andrey Belov, cellist Xavier Phillips, and oboist Oleksiy Ogrynchuk.
Since 2008, he has worked as an assistant in the class of Vladimir Krainev, and since 2012 he has been a professor at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover.
