Vadym Serhiiovych Chervov (25 December 1930 - 8 April 2000) was a Ukrainian cellist of Russian origin, professor, lecturer, and head of the Department of Stringed Instruments at the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine. He played in a trio with Vitalii Sechkin (piano) and Oleksii Horokhov (violin).
Biography.
He was born on 25 December 1930 in Yaroslavl, RSFSR. He received his musical education at the Moscow Conservatoire in the class of G. S. Kozolupova and M. L. Rostropovich (pedagogical practice), graduating in 1952. Vadym Chervov was a laureate of the International Cello Competition at the Third World Festival of Youth and Students in Berlin (1951, 2nd prize).
Since 1958, Vadym Chervov has been working at the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy. Since 1965, he has headed the Academy's Department of Stringed Instruments. He has participated in the work of the jury at cellist competitions in the republics of the former USSR, Ukraine, and international competitions. (He was the chairman of the jury of the Mykola Lysenko International Competition in Kyiv.) He has made numerous audio recordings of cello music, in particular, Ukrainian cello music.
