Chaikovsky Andrey Borisovich

1985

Andriy Tchaikovsky (born 1985) is a violinist, representative of the Lviv Violin School, concertmaster of the Solomiya Krushelnytska Lviv National Opera and Ballet Theatre. Honoured Artist of Ukraine (2021).

Biography.
In 2001, he graduated from the Solomiya Krushelnytska Music School (class of I. Shutko). He continued his studies at the Mykola Lysenko Lviv Music Academy in the class of Professor, People's Artist of Ukraine L. Shutko. He improved his skills for three years as a soloist in the postgraduate course of this academy. He took orchestral master classes in Suwałki (Poland) under the direction of Arvo Piart, as well as master classes at the Berlin Philharmonic under the direction of the concertmasters of this orchestra.

He is a soloist-concertmaster of the Orchestra of the Lviv Academic National Opera and Ballet Theatre named after S. Krushelnytska. He regularly performs violin solos in ballets: "Swan Lake" by P. Tchaikovsky, "Bayadereka" by L. Minkus, "Scheherazade" by N. Rimsky-Korsakov, "Esmeralda" by C. Pugnier, "Corsair" by A. Adan, "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" by B. Pavlovsky, The Rite of Spring and Pulcinella by Igor Stravinsky, Don Quixote by L. Minkus, Coppélia by L. Delibes, Lilea by K. Dankevich, and Symphony of Dance: World Classical and Modern. As well as violin solos in operas: "La bohème and Cio-Cio San by Puccini, Carmen by Bizet and others.

He is a co-founder and artistic director of the chamber orchestra of the Lviv National Opera and Ballet Theatre named after S. Krushelnytska. The orchestra has a rich repertoire and performs in Ukraine and abroad. In 2018 and 2019, together with The United States Air Forces in Europe Band (USA), it performed jazz compositions by the band on the stage of the Lviv National Opera and Ballet Theatre named after S. Krushelnytska. On 9 October 2019, Andriy Tchaikovsky was awarded a commendation for his significant achievements in strengthening the cultures and partnership between the United States and Ukraine, as well as supporting cultural diplomacy.

On 1 August 2016, he was awarded a diploma from the Lviv Regional Council for his significant creative achievements, high performance skills, and personal contribution to the development of Ukrainian culture and art.

In addition, he is active as a soloist in philharmonic societies and concert venues in Ukraine and Europe.

He took part in the recording of the New Year's concert for the Polonia TV channel (Poland) "Thought for Two Hearts". He performed a solo jazz improvisation of his own composition in Helena's Song by K. Dembski. Conductor - K. Dembski.

He has recorded two CD discs: "Music for All 2" with the Chamber Orchestra "Lviv Virtuosos", conducted by People's Artist of Ukraine S. Burko, violin by Andriy Tchaikovsky, "The Torment of Love" and "Gypsy Capriccio" by F. Kreisler. He also released a CD disc "Ukrainian Quintet" by B. Liatoshynskyi (I. Pakhota - piano, A. Tchaikovsky, L. Futorska - violin, M. Karapinka - viola, V. Rekalo - cello).

He published a textbook for music educational institutions Tchaikovsky A.B., Chepyha M.P., Shutko L.O., Chepyha O.M. "The influence of music energy on the emotionality of a musician, lecturer, student", Lviv: Magnolia 2006, 2009, 136 p.

He has repeatedly participated in television programmes on the Lviv TV channel (now Public Broadcasting) and gave live interviews about his creative work.
