In 1980, he graduated from the Ternopil Music College (now the Ternopil Regional State Music College named after Solomiya Krushelnytska), in 1985 - from the Ternopil Pedagogical Institute (now the Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University).

Family.
His wife is Lyudmyla Burmytska, a Ukrainian singer and teacher. Honored Artist of Ukraine, soloist of the State Academic Song and Dance Ensemble of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
