Bondarenko Andriy Igorevych

Andrii Bondarenko (born 22 June 1978, Brovary, Kyiv region) is a Ukrainian composer and pianist, public figure, member of the NUCC, co-founder and first chairman of the board of the NGO Wikimedia Ukraine. Candidate of Arts.
Biography.

At the age of nine, Andrii won the Children's Republican Composition Competition. In 1989-1996, he studied at the Mykola Lysenko Kyiv Secondary Specialised Music School for Ten Years, and in 2000 he graduated with honours from the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine, majoring in piano (class of Professor Valeriy Kozlov) and composition (class of Professor Ivan Karabyts). He improved his skills at the masterclasses "Technique on Composition" (North Macedonia, 1999) and "Avantgarde Schwaz" (Austria, 2000). In 2000-2003, he continued his studies as a pianist at the NMAU, and in 2004 he was a scholarship holder of the Gaude Polonia programme (Katowice, Poland). Since 2001 he has been working at the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts, and since 2006 he has been teaching at the National Academy of Culture and Arts Management.

Prize-winner of the I. and M. Kots Composition Competition (Kyiv, 1994), the International Competition "Creation of a Chamber Opera on a Biblical Theme" (St. Petersburg, 2003), diploma winner of the Horowitz (Kyiv, 1997) and Rachmaninoff (Tambov, 1996) piano competitions.

Participant of international festivals of contemporary music: "Music Premieres of the Season", "Kyiv Music Fest", "Forum of Young Music", since 2006 he has been performing as a member of the ensemble "New Music in Ukraine".

In 2017, he edited the publication "Fryderyk Chopin. Polish Songs in Modern Ukrainian Translations", which represents all the songs by Fryderyk Chopin that have survived to this day.

Public figure

Since May 2006, he has been actively editing the Ukrainian Wikipedia.

From 31 May 2009 to 20 February 2017, he was a member of the NGO Wikimedia Ukraine, its first chairman of the board (until 19 September 2010), and since 17 December 2011, a member of the board.

Since 18 August 2014, he has been a member of the Public Council at the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine (from Wikimedia Ukraine), and since February 2015, he has been a member of the Presidium of the Public Council at the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, Deputy Chairman and Secretary of the Standing Committee on Culture, Arts and Specialised Education of the Public Council.

Since 2011, he has been working on the project "World Classics in Ukrainian", which aims to revive the tradition of performing classical vocal works in Ukrainian translations.

Andriy Bondarenko at Euromaidan
Kyiv, Khreshchatyk, Euromaidan 2014. On 28 January and 9 February, Andriy Bondarenko performs Chopin and Rachmaninoff in front of the Kyiv City Council. Since the beginning of February, a gallery of selected Maidan photographs has been located across Khreshchatyk from the Trade Union Building. The photo of 16 February shows a fragment of this gallery (Svyatoslav Vakarchuk, Andriy Bondarenko and others). All this was destroyed by Berkut during the offensive on 18 February.
