Bokoch Vasyl Andriyovych

Vasyl Andriyovych Bokoch (born 1 March 1945, Vilkhivtsi village, Tyachiv district, Transcarpathian region) is a Ukrainian singer (baritone), People's Artist of Ukraine (2008).

He graduated from the Kyiv Conservatory (class of D. Yevtushenko, 1973). Since 1978, he has been a soloist on Ukrainian Radio and TV.

The first performer of many works by contemporary Ukrainian composers, he prepared monographic programmes of vocal works by M. Lysenko, Y. Stepovyi, V. Kosenko, L. Revutskyi, B. Liatoshynskyi, F. Liszt, J. Brahms, F. Poulenc, P. Tchaikovsky, S. Taneev, S. Rachmaninoff, etc. He recorded more than 400 pieces for the Ukrainian Radio, released 2 audio cassettes of Ukrainian folk songs and romances (in Canada).

He was a laureate of the Republican Vocal Competition (Kyiv, 1972). Three TV films were made about Vasyl Bokoch: "For a song to my father", "Romances of Yuri Maitus", "V. Bokoch Sings". He has toured in Europe and America.

He has taught at the Grinchenko University and the Kyiv University of Culture and Arts.
