Blinov Yevgeny Grigorievich

Yevgeny Grigorievich Blinov (6 October 1925, Sverdlovsk) is an Honoured Artist of Ukraine (1960), Honoured Artist of Russia (1974), People's Artist of Russia (1974), Academician of the Petrov Academy of Sciences and Arts, professor, teacher and conductor.

Biography
He was born in 1925 in the city of Yekaterinburg. Since 1941, he studied at the Sverdlovsk Music College (during the 1st year - V. Znamensky's domra class, Mykola Rozhyn's balalaika class, and during the 2nd year - Professor M. Gelis's class). After the second year of the music school, he was transferred to the Kyiv Conservatory, which was evacuated to Sverdlovsk), where he studied at the class of Professor Helis' balalaika.

He participated in the Second World War (1943-1945).

In 1945-1946, he was a student of the conducting and choral department of the Sverdlovsk Conservatory, class of O. Preobrazhenskyi. In 1951 he graduated from the Kyiv Conservatory, balalaika class of Professor Helis.

Balalaika player, in 1951-1963 he was an associate professor at the Kyiv Conservatory. 1954 - lecturer, 1956 - senior lecturer, since 1962 - associate professor. In 1951-1963, he was a soloist of the Kyiv Philharmonic and a lecturer at the R. Glière Kyiv Music School. Professor, in 1963-1975 - Head of the Department of Folk Instruments.

In 1975-1988, he was the rector of the Sverdlovsk Conservatory.

Laureate of the Fourth World Festival of Democratic Youth (Bucharest, 1953, first prize).

He gave a recital in the Column Hall of the Kyiv Philharmonic.

Among B.'s students are V. Ilyashevych, Y. Aleksyk, and A. Ryabinin.

Honoured Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1960), Honoured Artist of the RSFSR (1974), People's Artist of the RSFSR, Academician of the Petrov Academy of Sciences and Arts, Chevalier of the Order of the Badge of Honour (2001).
