Bezdilnyi Mykola Pavlovych

1923-1980

Ukrainian Soviet graphic artist, painter, musician and composer.

Biography.

He was born on November 11, 1923 in the town of Novi Sanzhary (now an urban-type settlement of Poltava district, Poltava region, Ukraine). He took part in the German-Soviet war.

In 1951, he graduated from the Poltava Music College. From 1951 to 1955 he worked at the music school in Zbarazh, and from 1955 at the music school in Berezhan. In the first year of his work, he organized the pop orchestra "Surmy". Soon he became the head of the Berezhany Music School. For several years, he was the organizer and director of the fine arts studio in Berezhany, which became an art school in 1980. He died in Berezhany on October 22, 1980.

Creativity.

While working in Zbarazh, he painted landscapes of the city, ancient architectural monuments. In Berezhany, he created a series of paintings and graphic works in which he depicted the nature of the Carpathian region. Among the works:

Since 1962, he has been engaged in wood carving, metal engraving, leather stamping, sculpture and ceramics, made vytynanky, applications. In total, more than 600 works of various genres.

He participated in exhibitions since 1952 in Lviv, Kyiv, Ternopil, and Moscow.

The artist's works are kept in museums and private collections in Ukraine, in particular in the Museum of Ethnography and Arts and Crafts in Lviv, Ternopil Art Museum, Berezhany Museum of Local Lore, Canada and the USA.
