Berezhnyuk Maksym Pavlovich

1986

Ukrainian virtuoso musician, performer on traditional wind instruments, vocalist, co-founder of The Doox, Kyiv Ethno Trio, BALAMUTY, and Veseli vujky, and member of the ancient music group Chorea Kozatska.

He is a masterful player of traditional wind instruments of Ukraine and the world, having mastered about 50 types. The musician's collection includes more than 100 well-known and rare folk wind instruments: sopilka, dentsivka, dvidentsivka, okaryna, telynka, pan-flute, drymba, kaval, floyara, bansuri, Turkish ney, horn, hulusi, bavu, duda (Ukrainian bagpipe), Galician gaita, sakpipa, shalmei, zinc, Armenian duduk, etc.

Biography

Born in Rivne on August 30, 1986.
Education.

In 2001, he graduated from Mykhailo Ditchuk's class at Rivne Music School #2.

2005 - graduated from the Rivne Music College, class of flute and pan flute, class of Ihor Fedorov.

2010 - graduated from the Faculty of Musical Arts, specializing in Folklore, Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts. Class of Professor Raisa Husak - traditional Ukrainian folk wind instruments. He studied traditional singing in the class of Ivan Sinelnikov (the "Kralytsia" ensemble).

Maksym Berezhniuk's career began with the traditional music of the Carpathians and Volyn, thanks to the preservation and reproduction of which the musician has gained considerable popularity on the contemporary Ukrainian folk scene.

Among the first and most significant achievements of the brass player are his activities as a soloist of the Kyiv Academic Ensemble of Ukrainian Music "Dnipro", participation in the ethno-rock band "Kamo Hryadeshi", in the alternative folk-rock band "Merva", in the folklore ensemble "Krosna", as well as cooperation with SkyTrix, co-founding the bands "Veseli Vuyky", "BALAMUTY" and "Kyiv Ethno trio".

He has also collaborated with the bands Lyapis Trubetskoy, TNMK, VV, Oleg Skrypka's Le Grand Orchestra, rapper Yarmak and singer Illaria.

Maksym participated in the project "Patterned Songs" with Susanna Karpenko and Serhiy Okhrymchuk. He played in creative duets with bandura player Yaroslav Dzhus and pianist Maksym Shorenkov.

The musician has repeatedly been a laureate of Ukrainian and international festivals. As a solo performer, he has visited many cities of Ukraine and the world. Among them: Lithuania, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Bulgaria, Canada, Sweden, Poland, etc.
