Anatolii Bazhenov was born on December 2, 1945 in Dnipro. His father, Ivan Semenovych Bazhenov, was a double bassist in the orchestra of the Dnipro Philharmonic.

He studied at the Dnipro Music College in the class of Matvey Lieberman, graduating in 1963.

In 1968, he graduated from the Moscow Conservatory (class of Boris Belenkyi), and in 1971, he completed an assistantship at the Kyiv Conservatory (class of Oleh Krysa).

In 1968-1969 he was an artist of the State Symphony Orchestra of the Ukrainian SSR.

Since 1970 - first violin of the Mykola Lysenko String Quartet (Kyiv).

He has been teaching since 1983 as a lecturer (since 1990 - Associate Professor, since 1995 - Professor), and from 2009 to 2014 - Head of the Violin Department of the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine.
Performing activity

The violinist tours and gives master classes in the USA, Canada, Germany, Great Britain, Finland, France, Poland, Algeria, Japan, Cuba, Denmark, Iran, and Turkey.

The musician's repertoire includes works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Dmitry Shostakovich, Vasyl Barvinsky, Dmitry Bortnyansky, Yuri Ishchenko, Vitaly Kireiko, Dmitry Klebanov, and Mykola Kolessa, Boris Lyatoshynsky, Yevhen Stankovych, Andriy Shtogarenko, Igor Shamo, including for the first time in Ukraine - works by Giuseppe Cambini, Ottorino Respighi, Gian Francesco Malipiero, Alfred Schnittke.

Anatoly Bazhenov became the first performer of many works by Ukrainian composers: Borys Liatoshynsky, Yevhen Stankovych, Myroslav Skoryk, Volodymyr Zubytsky, Valentyn Silvestrov, Ivan Karabyts and others.

The musician made recordings for the Ukrainian Radio Foundation, 25 records by Melodiya, and numerous CDs.

The violinist plays an instrument made in 1739 by Italian master Ferdinando Galliano.
Family.

Wife - Naida Magomedbekova - pianist, Honored Artist of Ukraine, Honored Artist of Dagestan, teacher at the Kyiv Conservatory.
Daughter - Kateryna Bazhenova - pianist, concertmaster, Honored Artist of Ukraine, soloist of the National House of Organ and Chamber Music of Ukraine.
Son - Oleksandr Bazhenov is a violinist.

Titles and awards

Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1973).
People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1989).
Diploma winner of the All-Union (1969, Leningrad) and international (1972, Prague Spring) competitions.
State Prize of the Ukrainian SSR named after Taras Shevchenko (1977) - for concert programs of 1974-1976.
The Order of Merit of the II (2015) and III (2011) degrees - for a significant personal contribution to the development of national culture and art, significant creative achievements and high professional skills.
