Barvinsky Alexander Petrovich

Barvinsky Oleksandr Petrovych (24 June 1955, Mykolaiv) - conductor. Honoured Artist of Ukraine (2001).

Biography.
Graduated from the Moscow (1982, class of Klavdiy Ptytsia) and Kyiv (1987, class of Stepan Turchak) Conservatories.

1982-83 - lecturer at the Mykolaiv Music School. Since 1987 - assistant conductor, since 1996 - conductor of the National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre of Ukraine.

He took part in festivals of Swiss art (Kyiv, 1992) and opera (Costellón, Spain, 2001). He toured Germany (2002). His repertoire includes works by Ukrainian (including Mykola Lysenko and Mykhailo Verikivskyi), Russian (including Modest Mussorgsky and Pyotr Tchaikovsky) and Western European composers.
